As a nation that had independent since 1961 called West Papua, Papuan people, especially Papua’s freedom movements’ activists ask to call referendum for act of free choice.
Couple of days ago, AMP (Papuan Student Alliance) in Bali celebrated Independence Day of West Papua, precisely on 1st December 2016. They give thanks to the Lord for happy day. They also ask referendum for West Papua, because according to them, act of free choice in 1969 was unfair.
Besides, in Jakarta, Papuan students also demonstrate as a kind of celebrating and aspirating the voice of Papuan people. Even though they’ve done peacefully demonstration, but police tortured three of them who joined on AMP and FRI (Indonesian People Front).
In Timika, Independence Day of West Papua has celebrated in the office of KNPB (West Papua National Committee). General Chairman of KNPB, Agus Kosai said to the world that we are not Indonesian, that’s why we are ready to make act of free choice for ourselves.
Asking for referendum stronger speak up by West Papua freedom movements in Papua and outside of Papua, even in abroad.
Indonesia must be making a right decision about conflict in Papua because Papuan people asking for referendum, they don’t asking for infrastructure development.
Therefore, Indonesian government should be resolved the roots of conflict in Papua without any political interests neither for Indonesian nor Papuan people. Or can be said conflict resolution is not for NKRI and Papua Merdeka.
