IMASEPA General Secretary Ask Government to Resolve Human Right Violation Cases in Papua



KAJPNews _ General Secretary of IMASEPA (Papuan Student Associations) West Java, Leonardus Magai said, human right is not being a main priority in Jokowi-JK Governmental. He has said it from the Hall of RRI Bandung on Saturday (10/12/2016).

According to him, human right agenda as important agenda along past two years in Jokowi-JK that’s why he hoped, in third year his leadership, Jokowi-JK becoming human right as main priority.

He continued, political pragmatism placed human right into transactional dynamic have to change in order to resolve human right violations.

For more, he said, weakness of Komnas HAM (National Human Right Committee) to be a challenge to resolve human right violation in Papua like Blood of Paniai (8 December 2014). According to the constitution article 89 Number 39, 1999 about Human Right, capability of Komnas HAM just investigation, that’s why government have to care and prior of human right violation resolving in Papua.

Leonardus O. Magai, who studying at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Bandung mentioned one of the human right violation cases in Paniai. It was unresolved even thought it was investigated by Komnas HAM, but it did not continued by judge.

“That’s why I ask to the Judge in order to resolve human right violations in Papua since Papua integrated to Indonesia till now, as soon as,” said him.

In his observation, among 10 cases in Indonesia especially in Papua, Komnas HAM and the Judge did not work fairly as their duty because of political interest. The human right violation cases he means are Case of Trisakti, Killing of Theys Hiyo Eluway, Blood of Abe (2016), Blood of Biak (1998), Blood of Paniai (2014), ect.

To close press conference at the Hall of RRI (Indonesian Radio Station) Bandung, in front of journalists, Leonardus O. Magai asked to the Indonesian Government, as soon as, have to resolve the cases of human right violations in Papua accordance with Mr. President’s promise on 8 January 2016 ‘he will resolve the human right violation cases in Papua this year’.

“But it is ignored by Mr. President, so the government must reforming the law about the judgment of military in order to make easy for resolving the human right violations,” closed him. (Mateus A. Tekege)
